Common questions

Can a Spanish visa refusal be appealed?
Yes. A visa refusal can be appealed through a reconsideration appeal (recurso de reposición), an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada), or a contentious-administrative appeal before the courts. It is essential to act within the legal deadlines. Marta Palacios Cuesta has extensive experience in all types of immigration appeals.
How long does Spanish nationality by residence take?
The legal deadline is one year from the date of submission. A complete, error-free application significantly reduces waiting times. Marta prepares each application with the highest level of rigour to minimise delays.
What is arraigo social (social integration permit)?
Arraigo social is an exceptional residence permit for people who have lived in Spain for at least 3 years and can demonstrate social integration through family ties or a favourable report from their local town hall (ayuntamiento). Since 2022 there is also an arraigo para la formación (training-based integration permit).
What documents do I need to apply for a residence permit in Spain?
Requirements vary depending on the type of permit (arraigo, family reunification, work, investment, etc.). Generally you will need a valid passport, proof of registration (empadronamiento), proof of financial means and specific documentation for your chosen route. Marta will carry out a personalised assessment of your case.
Does Marta Palacios Cuesta work with clients outside Spain?
Yes. The practice advises clients worldwide via video call, email and WhatsApp. The vast majority of immigration procedures can be handled without any in-person visit to Spain. Book your consultation at tidycal.com/abogadoextranjeria/consulta.
Are consultations available in English?
Yes. Marta Palacios Cuesta speaks both Spanish and English and provides full advisory services in both languages, whether in person, by video call, email or WhatsApp.
